Tasty Thursday

Ahhhhh. Food. My love, my nutrition, my addiction. It is so funny that even though I love healthy food I cannot seem to break my addiction to junk. When I look at a bag of chips verses a plate of veggies I am more attracted to the veggies, I want the veggies, I know that they taste better and that I should be eating them. This isn't the problem. The problem is that I know all of that and then I reach for the chips. Smart huh? Yeah I know, not so much at all. It's sad really. I work so hard to break this habit, and I work so hard at being healthy and then I sabotage myself by eating junk food that I don't even like.

I don't have a recipe to share with you this week. I have been eating horribly the last few days. I don't want to share any of the recipes that I have used because they are so bad for you. It's sad really. I think I already said that, but it's true. It is sad because it is something that I know how to change and have to power to change and yet I still don't change it.

So where do I go from here? I WILL start to make better choices. I will choose to eat the food that is healthy for me. I will choose to eat the food that is more appealing to me. I will choose to stop finding ways to add junk into my diet. I feel better both physically and emotionally when I eat right, so now I just need to do it.

Wish me luck.

Maybe I should listen to myself.

After writing that blog last week about holding yourself accountable when you ,make plans to change your eating and exercise habits I blew it. I ate horribly and blew off exercise. There really wasn't any reason for it other than I just didn't want to. How sad is that? I wish I had a good reason, like I was on vacation or I was sick or something but no, my only excuse is that I let myself fall back into my old bad habits.

So I guess my make-up day today isn't so much a make-up as it is a re-start. Back to the habits that I want to form instead of the habits that I want to stop. The funny thing about my jumping off the healthy train is that I actually didn't like any of the things that I was eating. While I was eating the cookies I kept thinking that they were too sweet and not as good as usual. While I was scarfing the chips I kept thinking that they were not nearly as good as I remembered. Did that stop me? Nope. Yeah, I think that makes it all the more pathetic.

Starting today I will get back to the kind of living that I enjoy, with good foods full of fresh veggies and lots of exercise. Hopefully it will help to pull me out of my grumpy mood too.

Something in the Water

I have no idea what is going around right now, but I have never seen more Mom's frustrated and ready to cease the day. (no that was't a typo) I don't know if it is like that where you are but here it seems like the coming of summer has made all of the kids worst traits come out, whining, yelling, misbehaving, ignoring, or whatever it is that your child does to drive you crazy.

I hate feeling like this. I hate it when I spend more time as a parent taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly to avoid flipping out over something that usually wouldn't matter but since it is the eleventy millionth time it has happened it makes you want to scream . I think that it is way past time for a Mommy re-charge.\

I know that I am not alone with this frustration right now, it seems like every Mom that I talk to has that haggard "my kids are dancing on my last nerve" look in her eyes right now. I just wish I knew what was causing the outbreak of frustration. Maybe it's in the water, or the weather. That's got to be it right? The weather.

So here is a post hoping that naptime today improves everyones mood so that we can all smile a little more and laugh together more often. What do you do when you feel like everyone in your house is ready for a break? Maybe your suggestions will help with me.
